Our artistic formats

Tools to cultivate a sense of community, activate the body, develop listening to ourselves and others, through art

Our formats are experiences designed for us to explore new ways of meeting others and being together. Each project stems from years of research in the field, also conducted with the help of social scientists, and offers a safe and stimulating space in which to explore authentic connections. The goal is not to find pre-packaged answers, but to create moments of listening, dialogue and sharing, helping participants feel part of something bigger.

Relational Art

Transformative relationships: art in the service of people

Relational art is an art form that focuses on people and their interactions. Theorized by Nicolas Bourriaud, it was created to create spaces of encounter and dialogue, where everyone can actively contribute. It is not just about the end result, but about the process done together: a journey in which getting to know each other and listening to each other becomes an opportunity to imagine new ways of living and building community. It is an art form that reminds us how much we can learn from each other, transforming shared moments into meaningful experiences open to change.

Our artistic formats

Continuous evolution, from research
to international festivals

Each of our artistic formats stems from at least two years of research in the field, through workshops and laboratories open to all people who decide to join us.

The entire creative process is participative: we collaborate with other artists, scientists, social psychologists and universities, who at the same time enrich our work by laying scientific foundations and interpret reality through Effetto Larsen formats. An ongoing exchange that fuels shared research.

Our work has traveled and continues to travel the world, feeding off each stage. We are members of the European arts networks In Situ and IETM, collaborate with international performing arts festivals, and have worked with several European Capitals of Culture (Valletta 2018, Matera 2019, Kaunas 2022).

STORMO®

STORMO® is a process based on cooperation between individuals: it enables the emergence of the collective intelligence of groups, the same intelligence used in nature by birds to organize the flight of flocks. The project is a way to remind us that we are part of a global system, where our behavior has a direct impact on animal species and the balance of the environment. It has several forms: it can be a workshop, an urban performance or an endurance performance.

During the sessions, participants develop awareness of themselves and others, leading to deep listening and attunement. The group arrives in a short time to move in harmony, as a single living being, with no one at its helm.

Mnemosyne

Mnemosyne is a site-specific project on emotional memories connected to places. Starting with workshops and interviews, we map an area based on the emotional experience of those who live there, identifying and connecting spaces through the emotions they have aroused in people.

The end result are installations that act as an emotional interface with the space and as powerful tools for storytelling and sharing.

After/Dopo

After/Dopo is a path where visitors are invited to leave traces: intimate reflections, anonymously, that all together create a space for sharing and knowing. There is only one condition for approaching this path: to imagine not being there anymore.

The activities offered along the trail are simple: charting one's relationships, leaving a message, drawing one's life line, lying down on a carpet of leaves. As simple as the traces left behind, made of sheets of paper, stones and writing, which together create a collective ritual about the contemplation of mortality.

Tracce

Tracce is a process that investigates the relationship between the identity of an area - a neighborhood, a city, an organization - and that of its inhabitants, through an installation generated by the public by accumulation of signs. We choose a place to transform it into a space of activity, and in line with our artistic practice we create the conditions for things to happen, leaving the public an active role in both performance practice and thought input.

Tracce is a versatile device that also lends itself to the collection of data and the creation of a dialogue about the destiny of places, whose identity is a project that is constantly being redefined over time.

Pop-Up Civilisation

Pop-Up Civilisation is a participatory art project about decision-making processes and sense of community. A tribal bubble across the world and the Western mindset, to remind each of us of the role we can play in our social reality and recover the rituality of encounter.

Participants are invited to experience a moment of suspension, during which they experiment with new ways to discuss the basic principles of any human society. If we could design a community from scratch, we would have to decide how to organize it, and to do so requires agreement. Power, resources, justice, relationships: cornerstones of our world, to be reviewed with fresh eyes.

The Fair of Others

The Fair of Others is a space for recreation and a break from the everyday. One of the activities we do every day is to get a sense of others and divide them into those we call “us” and those we call “them”.The Fair of Others allows us to reflect together on the frames we create to encapsulate the world and ask ourselves what shape we are giving it.

A performance divided into different moments, in which emotions, fun and thought alternate in a game that involves participants in discovering their own worldview. A gymnasium of awareness, a fair where the main attractions are us, the participants.

Cu'N'Fu

Cu'N'Fu - The Art of Imagining the Future is a project that stems from the relational art methods of Effetto Larsen to address change through three dimensions of time: past, present and future.

Cu'N'Fu builds on Effetto Larsen's experience in participatory processes and exploits elements of our artistic formats, each linked to a specific time dimension. The project creates moments of confrontation that allow groups of people to strengthen a sense of community and renew the bond between members. In different social contexts, we help generate spaces for listening and reflection, where everyone can explore their past, understand the present, and think together about new directions for the future.
